About Translation

I like English, and I like translating English words, although I don’t do written translation much, only infer the meaning of articles that I read and then keep it in my head. On this 4th semester, I hope that I can get more knowledge and improve myself in translation by attending Translation subject.

So far, I got my wish about decent improvement in translating, because everyone in classroom frequently assigned to do many translation assignments, and I get used to it. However, I don’t think that I get the ‘new’ knowledge. In the classroom, I just receive the assignment and we have do finish it, but I don’t think I get  the guidance to do good translation. Even if there are materials that the lecturer delivers to me, I don’t really understand because of poor delivery. Maybe I can handle it enough if I do say so myself, because thankfully, I know a decent amount of vocabulary, but, sometimes I am thinking about some of my friends who have difficulties in mastering vocabulary, let alone translating, they don’t have the references to do well because they get the assignment, but they don’t get the guidance.

It would be great if we, as the students, get clear guidance and explanation in translating, and also, I think, even though this is college, the class needs the lecturer to come to teach more often. No matter how good self-taught is, it would be better is there is someone who willingly teaches us.
